Vietnam Communist Party Official to Visit Cambodia, Says CPP

PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – A senior Vietnamese Communist Party official will visit Cambodia this week as both countries move to strengthen political and economic cooperation, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) said Tuesday.
Tran Cam Tu, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Politburo member, is scheduled to travel to Cambodia from April 9 to 10 at the invitation of CPP vice-president Say Chhum.
CPP said the visit is aimed at implementing agreements reached during a high-level meeting between the two parties in February.
Both sides have pledged to deepen cooperation under the framework of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.”
The agenda is expected to focus on expanding collaboration in defence, security, trade, investment, science and technology, education and tourism, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
During his stay, Tran Cam Tu will hold talks with senior CPP leaders and meet representatives from the Senate, National Assembly and the Royal Government of Cambodia.
