PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Commercial Gambling Management Commission (CGMC) is intensifying efforts to raise awareness of the newly enacted Law on Combating Online Scams, following its adoption earlier this month, officials said Tuesday.

The initiative was highlighted during a dissemination meeting chaired by Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS). CGMC Secretary General Yeth Vinel, Deputy Secretary General Brigadier General Sen Sopheap and other officials joined the session, which was held via Zoom.

The campaign aims to inform law enforcement officers of their critical role in implementing the legislation, which introduces five new offences and special legal procedures designed to strengthen the fight against online fraud.

The meeting also outlined the background and drafting process of the law, underscoring the need for coordinated enforcement and public awareness. Authorities stressed that the initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader push to curb online scams, protect consumers and reinforce trust in the digital economy.
