Cambodia Reports 95% Return of Displaced Border Residents, Urges Thailand to Honor Ceasefire
PHNOM PENH, April 29, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia said Wednesday that more than 95 percent of residents uprooted by border clashes with Thailand have returned home, while urging Bangkok to fully honor ceasefire commitments and resume joint demarcation efforts.
The interior ministry reported over 610,000 returnees out of more than 640,000 initially displaced, though around 33,500 people — including women and children — remain unable to return.

While no new damage to civilian infrastructure has been recorded, schools and health centers in several frontier provinces remain closed, underscoring the lingering impact on communities.
Cambodia reiterated its commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully, calling on Thailand to adhere to prior agreements and support efforts to restore stability and normal life along the border.
