PURSAT, May 31, 2026 (KPT) — Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Saturday called for stronger local governance, improved public services, and tighter security measures during a meeting with provincial and local officials in Pursat province.

Addressing 775 officials from provincial, district, commune, and local institutions, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed accountability, efficient service delivery, and social stability as Cambodia continues its development drive.

He urged commune and sangkat councils to respond more quickly to citizens’ needs while avoiding abuse of power, reminding officials that “civil servants are not the masters of the people, but loyal servants of the people.”

Samdech TechoHun Sen also called for stricter enforcement against tax evasion and stronger tax and customs collection to support economic growth and public programs.

On security, he instructed authorities to continue implementing the “Safe Village-Commune Policy,” including crackdowns on robbery, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and activities threatening social order.

The Acting Head of State further urged fair resolution of land disputes, protection of natural resources, and continued support for veterans, disabled soldiers, and military families.

Provincial officials highlighted Pursat’s growing role in Cambodia’s energy and industrial development, citing hydropower, solar energy, and manufacturing projects that are contributing to employment and economic growth.

Pursat currently hosts several hydropower projects and a 240MW solar power plant, alongside industrial investments including a Ford Motor Company assembly plant and electronics manufacturing facilities.
