CHONGQING, China, June 15, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has deepened engagement with China’s creative industries by joining the 2026 Chongqing International Animation Film Week, which brought together officials, industry leaders and filmmakers from around the world.

A delegation led by Hab Touch, Permanent Secretary of State and representative of the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, attended the five-day event in Yongchuan District from June 9 to 13.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hab Touch stressed the importance of international cooperation in the creative sector, noting that innovation, digital technology and cultural exchange are key drivers of economic and cultural development.

Held under the theme “Boundless Creativity · Excelling Together,” the forum drew senior Chinese officials, including the Mayor of Chongqing, alongside producers, directors, animation specialists and international delegates.

The program featured high-level discussions on the future of animation, digital content creation and emerging technologies shaping the global film industry. Participants also explored opportunities for cross-border collaboration and industry partnerships.

For Cambodia, participation reflects growing interest in developing cultural and creative industries, particularly as digital media and animation gain importance in economic growth and international cultural exchange.

Organizers said the event aimed to promote innovation in animation filmmaking, encourage international partnerships and provide a platform for sharing expertise and technological advances.

The gathering underscored China’s ambition to position Chongqing as a hub for animation, digital creativity and cultural innovation, while offering participating countries a chance to strengthen ties through the creative economy.
