BEIJING, June 18, 2026 (KPT) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath in Beijing on Wednesday, conveying greetings from President Xi Jinping and pledging deeper cooperation between the two countries.

Wang, also a member of the Communist Party of China’s Political Bureau, said he was entrusted by President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan to extend cordial wishes to the Cambodian royals, who are in China for medical check‑ups and recuperation.

Marking the 70th anniversary of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk’s first visit to China, Wang praised King Sihamoni for carrying forward his father’s legacy of friendship and forging close ties with President Xi.

He said relations between the two nations have entered a “new stage” under the strategic guidance of their leaders, building what Beijing calls an “all‑weather community with a shared future.”

Wang added that China is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Cambodia to deliver greater benefits to both peoples.

King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monineath asked Wang to convey their greetings to Xi and Peng, stressing that Cambodia will remain China’s “closest friend” regardless of changes in the international landscape.
