CPP and CPC Mark Milestones in Party Relations During Hun Sen’s Beijing Visit

BEIJING, June 26, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and senior Chinese official Liu Haixing have reaffirmed close party‑to‑party ties between the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Communist Party of China (CPC), highlighting a new cooperation agreement during talks in Beijing.
The meeting took place Thursday at the Great Hall of the People during Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s official visit, his spokesperson Chea Thyrith said. Liu, head of the CPC’s International Department, welcomed Samdech Techo and the Cambodian delegation, describing the visit as an important step in strengthening what both sides call their “ironclad friendship.”
He noted that the Chinese public regarded Hun Sen as a close friend of China and said news of the visit had drawn significant interest.
Liu announced that the CPP and CPC had signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation, particularly in training and developing future political leaders.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked his hosts for the warm reception, noting that 2026 marks the 35th anniversary of his first visit to China and the 30th anniversary of formal relations between the two parties.
He described party‑to‑party cooperation as a vital foundation for broader ties between the two governments.
The meeting concluded with Liu wishing Hun Sen and the Cambodian delegation a successful official visit.
