Information Minister Says Unexploded Bomb Is Evidence Against Thai Military Denials

PHNOM PENH, July 28, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Information Minister Neth Pheaktra has said an unexploded bomb found inside Cambodian territory is proof contradicting what he described as repeated denials by the Thai military over its use of aerial munitions during recent cross‑border hostilities.

In a post on his official social media account earlier this week, Pheaktra said the ordnance had been dropped by a Thai aircraft but failed to detonate.

He called the find “concrete evidence” that disproved statements by Thai officials denying the use of MK‑84 bombs and insisting all munitions had exploded.

“If all the bombs truly exploded, why does this unexploded bomb still remain on Cambodian territory?” he wrote, adding that the evidence “cannot be erased, distorted or denied.”

He argued that repeated denials could not change the facts on the ground and quoted a Cambodian proverb to underline his view that the truth would ultimately prevail.

Pheaktra alleged the bomb was left behind during Thai military attacks on Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He warned unexploded ordnance continues to endanger lives and livelihoods in affected areas long after fighting has ceased.

“Evidence does not lie,” he wrote. “Those who used the weapons may deny it, but the bomb remnants on Cambodian soil will continue to stand as historical witnesses.”

The Thai military has previously rejected allegations by Cambodian officials over its use of certain aerial bombs.

International media including Reuters and the BBC have not independently verified Pheaktra’s claims or the origin of the unexploded ordnance.
