Cambodia’s Labor Market Set to Add 445,000 Jobs in 2026 as Industry and Services Drive Growth
PHNOM PENH, June 10, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s labor market is projected to generate about 445,000 new jobs in 2026, driven by continued expansion in industry and services despite global economic uncertainty, according to the Occupational and Employment Outlook Survey of the Ministry of Labor released Wednesday.
The report said total employment among Cambodians aged 15 and above is expected to reach 11.16 million this year, up from 10.7 million in 2025 and 9.23 million in 2019, reflecting steady growth in labor demand.

The ministry noted that while the global economy faces challenges from geopolitical tensions, tighter financial conditions and shifting trade policies, Cambodia’s employment outlook remains positive thanks to strong domestic activity and investment.
The survey highlighted structural transformation in the economy, with workers gradually shifting from agriculture to higher‑value jobs. Agricultural employment is forecast to decline slightly, while industrial employment is set to expand strongly, rising from 2.3 million workers in 2019 to an estimated 3.3 million in 2026. The service sector will remain the largest employer, providing jobs for more than 5 million people.
Key sectors expected to generate new jobs include garment, footwear, travel goods and bag manufacturing, other manufacturing industries, hotels and restaurants, wholesale and retail trade, transport and warehousing, and information and communications technology.
Emerging industries such as electronics, electrical equipment and automotive assembly are also expected to create higher‑income opportunities for Cambodian workers and returning migrant laborers.
The Ministry of Labour said Cambodia created about 800,000 jobs in 2025, partly supported by returning migrant workers, and expects momentum to continue this year.
