Cambodia, South Korea Pledge Stronger Strategic Partnership and Joint Crackdown on Transnational Crime
Kula Lumpur, Malaysia (Oct.27, 2025) — Cambodian and South Korean leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation against transnational crime during a high-level meeting held in Kular Lumpur, Malaysia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to discuss the growing strategic partnership between the two countries, which was elevated to a strategic level in 2024. The leaders praised the strength and depth of Cambodia–South Korea relations, which were reestablished in 1997 and have since expanded across nearly all sectors.
The two sides agreed to intensify joint efforts to combat cross-border crime, with a particular focus on cyber fraud and offenses involving Korean nationals in Cambodia. Both leaders highlighted the success of past cooperation between law enforcement agencies and pledged to build on those achievements.
As part of the initiative, Cambodia and South Korea will establish a joint working group in November to enhance coordination between their respective authorities. The group will focus on preventing and prosecuting crimes linked to Korean nationals in Cambodia, including technology-driven scams.

The leaders also agreed to jointly promote public awareness of the positive outcomes of their cooperation, aiming to strengthen public trust and regional security.
The meeting underscored both countries’ shared commitment to maintaining public order, safety, and mutual prosperity through sustained diplomatic and law enforcement collaboration.
