Cambodia, Thailand Hold First Joint Meeting on Humanitarian Demining
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.24, 2025) — Cambodia and Thailand held their first meeting of the Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) on humanitarian demining along the shared border, the Ministry of National Defense said Wednesday.

The virtual meeting concluded at 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 24, with both sides announcing the composition of their working groups and exchanging draft Standard Operating Procedures for future operations, according to ministry spokeswoman Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata.

During the session, the Cambodian co-chair emphasized that all demining activities are strictly humanitarian and do not affect the ongoing land boundary survey and demarcation process, which remains under the authority of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Boundary Commission.
The meeting followed the First Special Session of the General Border Committee, held on September 10 in Koh Kong Province, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on border security and humanitarian efforts.
