PM says anti-drug efforts support ‘Safe Village’ policy

PHNOM PENH, March 7, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has said that efforts to combat illegal drugs are central to implementing the government’s “Safe Village, Commune and Sangkat” policy, which aims to strengthen security and social harmony at the community level.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2025 anti-drug work review and the 2026 work direction meeting of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, held on March 6 at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that the fight against drugs contributes to institutional reform, human resource development, and improved well-being at the grassroots level.
He added that anti-drug measures also support inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to leaders and civil servants from various ministries, members of the armed forces, national and sub-national authorities, as well as national and international organisations, private institutions and donors for their support.
Tackling drug-related problems, he said, requires the participation of all sectors of society.
According to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, joint efforts in prevention, suppression and law enforcement have produced notable results in maintaining public order and social security.
He noted that the work also contributes to the implementation of the government’s Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I and other priority measures under the seventh mandate of the National Assembly.
