PM Hun Manet seeks public input on new SME support package
PHNOM PENH, July 19, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Hun Manet on Sunday urged Cambodians, especially small and medium‑sized enterprise (SME) operators, to submit feedback as the government prepares fresh measures to tackle challenges in the sector and boost domestic production.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said he welcomed suggestions “in the spirit of thinking together and working together for the common interests of our Cambodian nation.”

He described SMEs as a key driver of growth and jobs, noting successive governments had rolled out policies to support the sector. Under the current legislature, new initiatives have been introduced to ease SME establishment and operations.
“While we have achieved many positive results, we still face a number of challenges that must be addressed to further strengthen the SME sector,” he said.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed SMEs’ role in reducing imports and strengthening economic resilience. He tasked Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth, also finance minister and chair of the Economic Policy Committee, with drafting urgent measures to resolve obstacles and spur SME growth.
The premier said policy design has relied on studies and consultations with SME representatives, the private sector and ministries, but broader public participation would improve effectiveness.
“I welcome opinions from all citizens—especially those engaged in the SME sector—regarding the difficulties they face as well as proposals to resolve the challenges confronting small and medium‑sized enterprises,” he said.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed the government’s commitment to SMEs as a pillar for job creation, economic expansion and domestic manufacturing.
