PHNOM PENH, Mar. 2, 2026 (KPT) — The United Nations has reiterated its commitment to supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development as the country prepares to graduate from the group of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in 2029.

Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva at the Peace Palace on Monday for talks on ongoing cooperation.

Andreeva, returning to Cambodia for her second mission, praised the country’s contributions to global peacekeeping, including the deployment of Cambodian Blue Helmets on UN missions.

She highlighted strong collaboration between UN agencies and Cambodian ministries, pledging continued support for initiatives on job creation, skills development and human capital growth.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the UN’s engagement, stressing its role in advancing Cambodia’s socio-economic progress and preparing for LDC graduation.

The meeting also touched on recent diplomatic engagements in Europe, where Hun Manet met UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk to strengthen cooperation on development and human rights.

Andreeva further encouraged Cambodia and Thailand to resolve their border dispute peacefully, in line with international law and existing treaties, while reaffirming the UN’s commitment to supporting Cambodia’s development and stability.
