PHNOM PENH, 1 March 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is accelerating efforts to fully digitalise trade licensing procedures through its National Single Window (NSW) reform, aiming to streamline imports and exports and enhance trade facilitation, officials said Sunday.

The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), which oversees the project, organised a full-day workshop gathering representatives from 16 ministries, institutions, private sector associations and import-export companies.

Presiding over the event, Pha Engveng, Deputy Director General of GDCE and head of the NSW Steering Committee Secretariat, underlined the government’s commitment to expanding electronic issuance of licences, permits, certificates and other regulatory documents, replacing traditional paper-based procedures.

Officials said the reform seeks to improve efficiency, transparency and inter-agency coordination while reducing administrative burdens for businesses engaged in cross-border trade, particularly those handling restricted or regulated goods.

The workshop also introduced new digital functions, reviewed the legal framework and collected user feedback to strengthen the platform in 2026.

Authorities said continued modernisation of the NSW system, including new technologies and closer collaboration between ministries and the private sector, will help lower trade costs and boost Cambodia’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.

The initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader digital transformation agenda and its commitment to paperless trade facilitation.
