PHNOM PENH, 12 February 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s customs authority has unveiled an ambitious reform agenda for 2026, focusing on full automation, stronger anti smuggling enforcement and expanded trade facilitation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth outlined the priorities at the General Department of Customs and Excise’s annual review meeting, urging officials to accelerate digital transformation and modernize systems to boost efficiency and transparency.

Key measures include intensifying crackdowns on tax evasion and prohibited imports, strengthening compliance with rules of origin requirements, expanding the Authorized Economic Operator program and improving governance standards.

Director General Kun Nhem highlighted progress in 2025, citing digitalization of procedures, enhanced risk management, closer cooperation with the private sector and stronger international collaboration.

Authorities pledged to continue implementing government measures to facilitate trade, improve the investment climate and enhance incentives for qualified investment projects.

Officials said the reform drive comes as Cambodia navigates global trade volatility and seeks to strengthen institutional capacity while supporting sustainable growth.
