PHNOM PENH, Feb 10, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reiterated that safeguarding its territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens remains the government’s highest priority, while stressing its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully and in line with international law.

Government spokesman Pen Bona told reporters at the daily press briefing that Prime Minister Hun Manet made the remarks earlier in the day during a meeting with top scoring students.

“All decisions taken by the Royal Government are guided by the supreme interests of the nation and its people,” Bona said.

He noted that Cambodia has consistently sought peaceful solutions based on international law to achieve lasting outcomes.

Following efforts to secure a ceasefire, authorities have focused on supporting families of fallen and wounded soldiers as well as displaced civilians.

A special task force has been appointed to assess damage and impacts to guide targeted interventions.

Bona said displaced residents are receiving shelter, food, water, electricity, sanitation and healthcare at government run safety centres, with support from provincial authorities, friendly countries, the private sector and the public.

Temporary classrooms and psychological support programmes have been introduced, while vegetable gardens led by Dr Pich Chanmony Hun Manet allow residents to grow food.

He added that civilians returning home are receiving assistance to restore agriculture, manage household debt and repair essential services such as telecommunications, water and electricity.

At the same time, Cambodia continues to pursue a diplomatic resolution to its border dispute with Thailand through the Joint Boundary Commission, in line with international law and agreements.

Bona said the government remains committed to the joint statement issued after the December 2025 General Border Committee meeting, and reaffirmed that Cambodia does not recognise any border changes resulting from the use of force.
