Cambodia Hosts Free Screenings of 19 Japanese Films Nationwide
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 6, 2025) — Cambodian audiences can enjoy 19 Japanese films for free as the 2025 Japanese Film Festival runs nationwide from Dec. 6 to 14 in major cinemas.
The festival officially opened Dec. 5 at Major Cineplex in AEON Mall 1, with Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeung Sakona, Japanese Ambassador Ueno Atsushi, and representatives from the Japan Foundation and CJCC in attendance.

This year’s program features a mini retrospective on acclaimed director Hirokazu Kore-eda, including three of his films and an online talk. The screenings are organized with support from Cambodian producer Chandara SO of KUDU Studios.
Launched in 2015, the Japanese Film Festival has become an annual platform to strengthen cultural exchange between Cambodia and Japan through cinema and the arts.
