PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.19,2025) — Senior Minister Ly Thuch will lead a Cambodian delegation to two international mine-action meetings in Switzerland and Indonesia from Dec. 1-8, the government said.

Ly Thuch, first vice president of the Cambodian Mine Authority, will represent the country at the 22nd Meeting of States Parties to the Ottawa Convention in Geneva, Dec. 1-5. Cambodia is a state party to the treaty banning the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of anti-personnel landmines.

On Dec. 8, he will join the Third High-Level Dialogue on Advancing Cooperation and Resource Mobilisation for Mine Action and Explosive Remnants of War in Jakarta.

Officials said Ly Thuch’s program includes presenting Cambodia’s progress under the Ottawa Convention, defending its request for a third extension of mine-clearance deadlines, chairing a side event on international cooperation, holding bilateral talks with ambassadors and envoys in Geneva, and sharing Cambodia’s clearance experience in Jakarta.

Cambodia remains among the countries most affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war, and has long sought international cooperation and funding to support clearance efforts.
