Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Fight Human Trafficking at UN Meeting

UNITED NATIONS (Nov. 25, 2025) — Cambodia has reaffirmed its determination to combat human trafficking, with its ambassador to the United Nations highlighting national efforts at a high-level UN meeting.

Speaking Monday at UN Headquarters in New York, Keo Chhea, Cambodia’s permanent representative to the UN, outlined the country’s strategies to address trafficking.

He pointed to the National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking (2024–2028), launched by the government in August 2024, as a key framework for tackling the issue.

Chhea emphasized the importance of international cooperation, urging global partners to work together against the transnational crime and advance the shared goal of a world free from human trafficking.

Human trafficking remains a major global challenge, with millions of victims each year subjected to forced labor, sexual exploitation and other forms of abuse.

Cambodia has taken steps including strengthening law enforcement, raising public awareness and coordinating with regional and international partners. The national strategy outlines priorities such as victim protection, prevention, prosecution of offenders and cross-border cooperation.

The two-day UN meeting, held Nov. 24–25, brought together member states to review progress, share best practices and coordinate action plans aimed at reducing trafficking worldwide.

Cambodia’s participation underscores its commitment to implementing policies and fostering international collaboration in the fight against human trafficking.
