Cambodia celebrates women entrepreneurs driving sustainable growth
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.12, 2025) — Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Day 2025 highlighted the growing influence of women-led businesses in advancing sustainable and inclusive development across the country.

Held Nov. 11 under the theme “From Vision to Action: Women Entrepreneurs Drive a Greener Future,” the annual event brought together about 300 women business leaders, policymakers and innovators to share experiences, celebrate achievements and explore sustainable business solutions.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Industry Minister Hem Vanndy said green production, transparent supply chains and ethical business practices are becoming the global standard.

“Moving toward green production, transparent supply chains, and ethical business is not just a trend—it is the new standard for global trade,” he said.
According to Cambodia’s 2022 Economic Census, women lead or own about 70% of the country’s economic units, playing a vital role in local production, job creation and community development. However, most operate in the informal sector, limiting access to financing, government support and business services.
Vanndy acknowledged the challenges of adopting greener practices, noting that eco-friendly materials, renewable energy systems and green certifications can be costly for small enterprises.
He urged women entrepreneurs to take practical steps such as monitoring energy use, reducing waste and sourcing sustainable raw materials, especially from local agriculture.

The event also honored nine outstanding women entrepreneurs for their contributions to job creation, revenue growth and sustainable innovation, underscoring the resilience and leadership of Cambodian women in building a greener economy.
