PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.16, 2025) — Cambodia’s newly launched Techo International Airport welcomed an average of 15,000 passengers per day during its first week of operations, according to Sin Chanserivutha, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

Speaking to KPT English on Tuesday, Chanserivutha said the airport recorded an average of 130 inbound and outbound flights daily between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15. A total of 28 airlines are currently operating at the facility, including four domestic carriers and 24 international ones.

The $2 billion airport, classified as 4F, spans over 2,000 hectares and is designed to handle six times the passenger capacity of Phnom Penh International Airport. Its extended runway accommodates both small and large aircraft, boosting Cambodia’s connectivity and logistics potential.

Ho Vandy, chairman of the Cambodia Tourism Association, said the airport’s launch marks a major step forward not only for tourism but also for trade. “This new gateway will attract international tourists, investors, and cargo flows, enhancing Cambodia’s global reputation,” he said.

Sok Sarin, CEO of Channel Travel, added that major carriers such as Emirates and Turkish Airlines are expected to begin direct flights to Techo International Airport in the coming months.
