China’s Sinomach Signs $35 Million Deal to Import Cambodian Cashews
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 12, 2025) — Chinese state-owned enterprise Sinomach Hainan has signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambodia to import 25,000 tons of cashew nuts annually, in a deal valued at $35 million over the next three years.
The agreement includes the export of 20,000 tons of dried cashews and 5,000 tons of processed cashews to China each year.
The MoU was signed during a meeting at Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce between Secretary of State Samheng Bora and Zou Zhun, director of Agricultural Department 1 at Sinomach Hainan.
Representatives from five Chinese companies based in Hangzhou and Guangxi, along with Cambodian cashew processors, agro-exporters and the Cambodian Cashew Federation, also attended the signing.
Officials said the deal reflects Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to preserve existing markets, expand trade partnerships and attract investment in its cashew sector.
During the meeting, Bora encouraged Sinomach Hainan to consider further investment in local cashew processing and development of Cambodia’s cashew value chain.
