Cambodia Projects Over $1 Billion in Digital Trade Revenue by 2029
Cambodia (Sept. 12, 2025) — Cambodia expects to generate more than $1 billion in profit from its growing digital trade sector by 2029, driven largely by the expansion of digital advertising, Commerce Minister Cham Nimul said Thursday.

Speaking at the 2nd Cambodia Digital Trade Forum and Online Expo, Nimul said digital platforms have become vital tools for economic growth, creative production and global connectivity.
“The digital trade sector reflects the resilience and flexibility of our people,” she said. “Digital advertising is projected to generate between $1.1 billion and $1.8 billion in revenue by 2029.”
She noted that the growth is fueled by increased social media use, particularly among rural farmers who are selling products online to international markets. Digital advertising, she added, is transforming traditional marketing and becoming a key tool for business protection and expansion.
Cambodia’s digital landscape is rapidly evolving. Of the country’s 17.28 million people, about 13 million — or 74.67% — are active on social media platforms.
Popular digital marketplaces such as Foodpanda, Nham24, Grab, E-gets, Wownow and L192 are helping drive demand for goods, food, clothing and transportation services.

To sustain growth, Nimul emphasized the need for digital trade companies to offer high-quality products, secure payment systems and engaging social media advertising to attract users.
