Cambodia Earns $328 Million from Rubber Exports Over Eight Months
By Leng Deth
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 11, 2025) — Cambodia generated more than $328 million from rubber exports during the first eight months of 2025, a slight increase compared to the same period last year, according to the General Directorate of Rubber under the Ministry of Agriculture.

From January to August, the average export price of Cambodian rubber reached $1,786 per ton, up $220 or 14% year-on-year, the report said.
Deputy Director-General Khun Kakada said Cambodia exported 183,910 tons of rubber during the period, a 12% decline from last year. He attributed the drop to rising domestic consumption, which now absorbs up to 89% of total output.
Kakada noted that rubber harvesting, processing, and business operations across plantations and companies remain stable.

Men Sophak, president of the Cambodia Rubber Development Association, told Kampuchea Thmey that while overall output remained steady, the presence of domestic tire manufacturing plants has helped absorb more locally produced natural rubber.
“The emergence of tire factories has truly helped,” Sophak said. “Previously, we exported abroad. Now, with local production using natural rubber, we sell domestically without incurring transport and service costs.”
In 2024, Cambodia earned over $671 million from rubber exports, a 36.38% increase compared to 2023.

Cambodia currently has more than 420,000 hectares of rubber plantations, including over 330,000 hectares tapped for latex and 90,000 hectares under maintenance. Of the total, more than 220,000 hectares are industrial plantations, while family-owned plots account for over 200,000 hectares.
