PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 11, 2025) — A leading Chinese company is exploring opportunities to invest in a tourism development project in Cambodia using artificial intelligence, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The initiative was discussed during a meeting on Sept. 10 between Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Ma Tieqiao, CEO of Guilin Junda Transportation, along with his delegation, at the ministry’s headquarters in Phnom Penh.

“This meeting marks a step toward the practical implementation of a major investment project,” Huot Hak said, expressing hope for a successful feasibility study and long-term cooperation.

The Chinese delegation expressed appreciation for the discussions and pledged to adhere to best practices in the development of the proposed project.

Cambodia welcomed 3.71 million international tourists in the first seven months of 2025, an 8% decline compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Tourism reported Friday. Thailand led foreign arrivals, followed by Vietnam and China.
