KOH KONG, Cambodia (Sept. 9, 2025) — The Joint Secretariat Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) concluded today after three days of discussions described as friendly and constructive, according to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense.

Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, ministry spokesperson, said the meeting aimed to foster productive dialogue, build mutual confidence, and explore practical cooperation ahead of the Special GBC Meeting scheduled for Sept. 10.

The session, held Sept. 7–9 in Koh Kong province, brought together secretariat teams from both countries. The Cambodian delegation was led by Maj. Gen. Nhem Boraden, while the Thai side was headed by Lt. Gen. Nuttapong Praokaew.

Talks focused on strengthening the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, with emphasis on trust-building and operational effectiveness.

The meeting comes amid ongoing concern over the detention of 18 Cambodian military personnel, who have been held in Thai custody since July 29 — just hours after the ceasefire took effect. Cambodian officials continue to press for their release, citing humanitarian and legal concerns.
