PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk has donated $20,000 to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) to support demining officials working along the country’s borders.

The donation ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Kuy Sophal, who also serves as minister of the Royal Palace and represented Her Majesty at the event. CMAC Director General Heng Ratana accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.
During the ceremony, Kuy Sophal conveyed a message from the Queen Mother expressing her deep concern and care for those serving in hazardous demining operations. Her Majesty recalled their sacrifices and inquired about their well-being with what officials described as maternal affection.
In his remarks, Kuy Sophal praised the Queen Mother’s enduring compassion and generosity, noting that her support extended beyond financial assistance to heartfelt wishes for the safety and prosperity of the deminers.
Ratana expressed his gratitude for the donation, calling it a reflection of Her Majesty’s benevolence and commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to assist frontline personnel working under dangerous conditions.
He offered his blessings and prayers for the Queen Mother’s continued health, happiness and longevity, saying her presence remains a source of peace and comfort for Cambodia and its people.
