HANOI, Vietnam (Sept 02, 2025)— Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of Cambodia’s Senate and leader of the Cambodian People’s Party, led a high-level delegation to Vietnam on Sept. 2 to attend the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

The ceremony, held at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, honored Vietnam’s historic struggle for independence and paid tribute to the sacrifices of revolutionary leaders and citizens. The event featured a large-scale military and civilian parade, with nearly 16,000 participants from Vietnam’s armed forces and public security units. Foreign military contingents from Russia, Laos, and Cambodia also took part.

Vietnamese leaders used the occasion to reaffirm national development goals, including becoming a modern industrialized country with upper-middle income by 2030 and a high-income socialist nation by 2045.

Alongside Samdech Techo Hun Sen, other dignitaries in attendance included Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, and Zhao Leji, chairman of China’s National People’s Congress. The gathering underscored Vietnam’s regional and global diplomatic engagement and its enduring ties with neighboring countries.
