Aug. 26, Sydney — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol led a delegation Tuesday to Sydney International Airport to study its development and management model, as part of Cambodia’s broader effort to attract infrastructure investment and strengthen logistics capabilities.

The visit focused on Sydney Airport’s operations under Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a leading independent investment firm specializing in large-scale infrastructure assets. GIP currently invests across four key sectors: energy—including renewables and distribution—transportation, digital infrastructure, and water and waste management.

During the visit, Sun encouraged GIP to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly under the country’s National Logistics Master Plan. He highlighted Cambodia’s strategic location and growing demand for modern infrastructure as key drivers for regional connectivity and economic growth.

Sydney International Airport is one of Australia’s busiest and most vital international gateways, playing a central role in linking Sydney to global markets. The airport is operated by Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) and managed under the Sydney Aviation Alliance (SAA), a consortium of infrastructure investors.

The Cambodian delegation’s visit is part of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties and attracting global expertise to support Cambodia’s infrastructure modernization.
