Cambodia Launches STRACAP Roadmap as Industrial Base Expands to Over 3,000 Factories
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 17, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has unveiled a new national roadmap to strengthen product standards and boost global competitiveness, as its industrial base expands to more than 3,000 factories with total investment reaching $25 billion.
The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation announced the rollout of the Standards, Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment Procedures, or STRACAP 2026–2032. The plan aims to reinforce Cambodia’s National Quality Infrastructure and align standards with international frameworks.

Minister Hem Vanndy said compliance with global standards is essential for Cambodian industries to compete effectively and access regional and global markets.
According to the ministry, Cambodia’s industrial sector grew rapidly in 2025, with 3,083 large factories in operation — a 27 percent increase from the previous year.
Developed with support from ISO, UNIDO and the Australian government, the roadmap sets priorities including upgrading laboratories, strengthening certification bodies, digitalizing services and enhancing coordination with the private sector.
The initiative will help local enterprises integrate into global value chains, ensuring Cambodia’s industrial growth translates into higher value production and sustainable development.
