Marisonkak begins compensation for Panda Commercial Bank depositors
PHNOM PENH, March 27, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s appointed liquidator for Panda Commercial Bank said Friday it will begin compensating depositors in stages from April 2, as part of ongoing efforts to wind down the failed lender.

Morisonkak MKA, named by the National Bank of Cambodia to oversee the liquidation, said some assets had been converted into cash to provide partial payments. Depositors who have filed claims can collect compensation at the bank’s Phnom Penh office or via bank transfer if account details were provided.
The liquidator stressed that payments will continue as more assets are sold, and warned customers to be cautious of scams by individuals claiming to facilitate reimbursements in exchange for fees.

NBC governor Chea Serey said earlier this month that the central bank’s priority is to safeguard depositors and maintain confidence in the financial system. She emphasized that the liquidation process would be conducted transparently, with staged compensation designed to ease liquidity pressures for customers while assets are gradually sold.
Panda Commercial Bank became the second lender to be liquidated in 2026 after its licence was revoked in February due to deteriorating financial conditions.
Officials reaffirmed that Morisonkak MKA is the sole entity authorized to manage the bank’s assets and liabilities under Cambodian law.
The bank was placed under liquidation in 2025, and authorities say the staged compensation aims to ease liquidity pressures for depositors while the process continues.
