The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and Singaporean company on Monday launched the second phase of their cross-border QR code payment service, enabling Singaporeans visiting Cambodia to pay directly by scanning KHQR codes at merchants nationwide.

The NBC has appointed ACLEDA Bank as the sponsoring bank for the strategic project, a joint initiative with MAS. ACLEDA has pioneered cross-border QR payments since 2020, facilitating seamless transactions across ASEAN. In November 2025, Phase 1 allowed Cambodian users to scan Singapore’s SGQR codes at RoamQR merchants, promoting the use of national currencies and advancing ASEAN financial integration.

Officials said the KHQR–SGQR interoperability exemplifies Cambodia’s progress in digital banking. The launch involves ACLEDA Bank, Singapore’s Liquid Group, and intermediary banks including United Overseas Bank and DBS Bank, under the regulatory frameworks of NBC and MAS.

NBC said the initiative simplifies transactions, enhances security, and reduces costs, while strengthening regional digital financial connectivity and supporting the ASEAN Economic Community’s integration goals.
