Svay Rieng Prepares for AFC Semi-Final Match Against Rising Manila Digger
PHNOM PENH, April 8, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian champions Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC are preparing for a critical encounter against Manila Digger FC of the Philippines in the first leg of the AFC Challenge League semi-finals, scheduled for Thursday evening.
The match is set to commence at 7:00 PM at the Morodok Techo National Stadium. Svay Rieng enters the fixture in strong form following a 4-1 victory over Phnom Penh Crown FC on April 4. This result positions the team one point away from securing the Cambodian Premier League title and approaching a historic third consecutive championship.

Head coach Matthew McConkey has advised against complacency, identifying Manila Digger’s speed, physicality, and rapid transitions as significant challenges. “They are particularly dangerous when transitioning from defense to attack. We must manage these situations with care and avoid errors in critical areas,” he stated.
The two teams previously competed in the group stage in November 2025, concluding in a 2-2 draw. Since that match, Manila Digger has expressed a commitment to improved performance, describing the squad as “sharper and hungrier for victory.”
The semi-final is anticipated to be closely contested, with tactical discipline and composure expected to be decisive factors. Svay Rieng aims to leverage home advantage prior to the return leg in Manila on April 16, as both clubs strive to qualify for the continental final.
