PHNOM PENH, April 22, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Justice Minister Koeut Rith has called for stricter enforcement of a new law targeting cyber scams, as nearly 3,000 judicial officials joined a nationwide briefing.

The dissemination session, held April 21 via Zoom, brought together judges, prosecutors and court staff from across the country.

It focused on the implementation of the Law on Combating Cyber Scams, promulgated earlier this month, which introduces criminal measures to strengthen efforts against online fraud and bolster public security.

Rith said the briefing was intended to ensure consistent understanding and application of the law nationwide.

He urged courts and prosecutors to cooperate closely with relevant authorities and to enforce the legislation “properly and firmly.”

He stressed the need for prosecutors to take a leading role in coordinating investigations and legal action, while calling for tougher penalties and prioritised seizure of assets linked to scam activities.

The government has identified cybercrime as a key policy priority, with the new law forming part of broader efforts to combat online fraud and reinforce law enforcement during the current legislative term.
