PHNOM PENH, April 24, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodian government has reiterated its full support for China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the global infrastructure and connectivity strategy led by President Xi Jinping, underscoring the continued strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

The position was restated during recent “2+2” talks in Phnom Penh, where Cambodian officials highlighted the initiative as a key framework for infrastructure development, trade expansion and long term growth.

According to a foreign ministry statement, Cambodia said its participation in the BRI aligns with national priorities, particularly in improving connectivity, attracting investment and supporting industrial and logistical development.

Officials pointed to flagship projects in transport, special economic zones and regional connectivity.

The government described the BRI as a pillar of foreign economic policy, contributing to what it calls “win win cooperation” with China.

The reaffirmation comes as both countries expand cooperation across trade, finance, energy and technology under their comprehensive strategic partnership.
