PHNOM PENH, April 27, 2026 (KPT) — The ASEAN–China Centre has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing the flow of Chinese tourists to Cambodia, strengthening people to people exchanges and promoting deeper engagement in 2026, officials said Monday.

Tourism Minister Huo Hak met Secretary General Shi Zhongjun and his delegation to review cooperation between the ministry and the Centre. Both sides agreed that tourism is a key sector in building a Cambodia–China community with a shared future, stressing the need for high quality exchanges across all seasons.

The two parties pledged to intensify practical cooperation to attract more Chinese visitors. The effort aligns with close collaboration among the Ministry of Tourism, the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh, the private sector and other institutions.

Cambodia has authorized a visa exemption for Chinese citizens under a pilot scheme running from June 15 to October 15, 2026, during the Kingdom’s “green season.” The measure allows Chinese tourists to stay for up to 14 days, which officials say will help boost arrivals and reinforce bilateral ties.

Tourism authorities said the initiative reflects Cambodia’s broader strategy to diversify markets and enhance competitiveness, while positioning the country as a year round destination. The ASEAN–China Centre added that stronger cooperation will contribute to sustainable growth and deepen cultural exchanges between the two nations.
