Cambodia Hosts Foreign Military Attachés to Observe Border Ceasefire

PHNOM PENH, April 28, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s defence ministry has facilitated a visit by foreign military attachés to observe conditions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, in a move officials said was aimed at promoting transparency during an ongoing ceasefire.

Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for the ministry, said the visit formed part of the Second Annual Tour of 2026 for the Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh.

Delegates travelled to the Ou Phluk Damrei area in Pursat province to conduct on‑site observations of the frontier.

The ministry said Cambodia welcomed representatives from friendly countries to directly monitor developments, describing the initiative as a way to ensure “transparency, credibility and accuracy” regarding the ceasefire.

Officials reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to fully implementing agreements reached with Thailand, including the joint statement from the General Border Committee in December 2025 and a broader peace accord signed in October 2025.

The ministry said these commitments aim to support recovery efforts, restore normal conditions and ensure long‑term stability in border areas. The visit was also intended to inform the public and international media of the situation on the ground.
