PHNOM PENH, May 7, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and the World Bank have reviewed the country’s logistics performance and reform priorities as part of efforts to cut transport costs, improve supply chain efficiency and strengthen competitiveness in attracting foreign investment, officials said Thursday.

The discussions took place during a workshop on the “New Logistics Performance Index (LPI 2.0) and World Bank Calculation Methodology,” chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and Chairman of the National Logistics Council.

The event gathered Public Works and Transport Minister Tania Meyer, government officials, transport associations and private sector representatives.

The workshop aimed to help ministries, institutions and businesses better understand the World Bank’s updated LPI 2.0 methodology, which shifts from perception‑based surveys to data‑driven measurements using key performance indicators.

World Bank experts presented the new framework, a logistics dashboard system and the National Logistics Information Center, designed to improve monitoring and assessment of Cambodia’s logistics performance.

Chanthol described the logistics sector as a backbone of Cambodia’s economy and a critical factor in enhancing competitiveness and attracting foreign direct investment. He urged stakeholders to accelerate digitalization in transport systems and streamline border procedures to make them faster, more transparent and aligned with international standards.
