Cambodia Advances Logistics Reforms to Cut Costs and Boost Competitiveness
PHNOM PENH, July 8, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is accelerating reforms to modernize its logistics sector, reduce transport costs and strengthen competitiveness in regional and global supply chains, officials said Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and Chairman of the National Logistics Council, chaired the council’s 11th meeting to review progress on strategic reforms. The high‑level session brought together Public Works Minister Peng Ponea, senior officials, business leaders and technical experts.

Participants assessed three key initiatives: the collection of Logistics Performance Indicators 2.0, the development of a National Logistics Dashboard, and the drafting of Cambodia’s first Law on Logistics. The council also discussed new directions to modernize transport systems, improve efficiency and enhance integration into global supply chains.
Chanthol briefed members on his recent meeting with EuroCham at Sihanoukville Port, where discussions focused on benchmarking Cambodia’s logistics indicators against neighbouring countries to identify solutions for reducing costs and shortening cargo transit times.
“The national logistics sector is a vital economic artery,” Chanthol said, stressing that efficiency is essential to attract investment and strengthen trade competitiveness. He thanked ministries and private partners for close cooperation, underscoring the need for stronger public‑private collaboration.
The government’s long‑term vision is to build a resilient logistics system that supports diversification, enhances competitiveness and contributes to Cambodia’s goal of becoming a high‑income nation by 2050.
