In a message to Xi, the monarch said he was “greatly delighted” to receive congratulations on his May 14 birthday and wishes for recovery from illness.
He praised recent state and official visits between Cambodian and Chinese leaders, describing them as milestones that strengthened their “ironclad friendship” and “diamond cooperation.”
The King also thanked Xi for assigning specialist doctors from Beijing hospitals to care for Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and himself.
He wished Xi and his wife good health and success, while commending China’s development under his leadership.
The letter closed with assurances of the King’s “highest respect and deepest affection” for the Chinese president.
The palace recently confirmed King Sihamoni has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will remain abroad for one to two months of treatment and recovery.
