PHNOM PENH, May 19, 2026 (KPT) — WCFO (Cambodia) has begun construction of a new purpose‑built facility in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, underscoring its long‑term commitment to Cambodia as a manufacturing base and export hub.

The groundbreaking ceremony on May 15 marked the latest expansion by the optical fiber connectivity producer, which supplies high‑quality products to major markets including Japan and the United States.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Hong Kong, WCFO is a supplier of high‑performance components and integrated fiber optic connectivity solutions serving key optical access markets. Its products include intelligent, versatile and high‑density optical racks and cabinets, patch panels, attenuators, adaptors, splitters, WDM solutions, and a wide range of standard and custom cable assemblies with connector types such as LC, SC, E2000 and MPO.

RGPPSEZ said WCFO’s investment will boost Cambodia’s economic growth and create new employment opportunities for local workers. The company, part of the Hong Kong‑based WCFO Group founded in 1997, first established operations in Cambodia in 2020 with a rental factory.

Officials said WCFO chose Cambodia for its young and trainable workforce, competitive operating environment and preferential trade access to developed markets, advantages that have become more significant amid global supply chain shifts.

“WCFO began their journey in Cambodia at RGPPSEZ with a rental factory as their first production base. What started as an initial step into a new market gradually grew into a story of confidence, growth, and long‑term commitment,” RGPPSEZ said.

The new facility, the zone added, reflects WCFO’s confidence in Cambodia as a long‑term manufacturing destination and in RGPPSEZ as a trusted partner. The expansion is expected to strengthen Cambodia’s role in global supply chains while supporting export growth and job creation.
