CDC Reviews US$450 Million Investment Pipeline Focused on Renewable Energy and Industry
PHNOM PENH, May 19, 2026 (KPT) — Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) is advancing a new wave of industrial and renewable energy investments worth about US$450 million as the government pushes to diversify the economy, expand clean energy capacity and strengthen infrastructure, officials said Tuesday.
The Cambodian Investment Board under the Council for the Development of Cambodia reviewed seven proposed qualified investment projects during its fifth “Single Portal Meeting” of 2026, chaired by Secretary General Chea Vuthy. Representatives from ministries and provincial administrations joined the session.

According to the CDC, the projects are expected to generate around 900 jobs and span manufacturing, agro‑industry and renewable energy. Proposals include three solar plants with a combined capacity of 330 megawatts and a large‑scale battery energy storage system of 500 MW/1000 MWh, underscoring Cambodia’s focus on energy transition and grid stability.
Industrial projects feature garment washing, dyeing and printing facilities with wastewater treatment and boiler systems, while agro‑industry investors plan an edible oil refinery producing rice bran, soybean, corn and olive oil. The ventures are planned for Kampong Speu, Stung Treng and Pursat provinces.
Energy Minister Keo Ratanak said clean sources already account for more than 63 percent of Cambodia’s electricity, with a target of 70 percent by 2030. He noted construction of the country’s first 900 MW LNG power plant, part of a long‑term vision to integrate petrochemicals and cold storage into Cambodia’s industrial base.
