PHNOM PENH, May 20, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodian People’s Party president Samdech Techo Hun Sen chaired a meeting Tuesday with leaders of 29 allied political parties, stressing unity and cohesion as Cambodia faces sensitive border disputes with Thailand.

Held at the 7 January Palace, the gathering brought together members of the ruling alliance to review coordination and reaffirm support for the government’s position of resolving frontier issues peacefully under international law and existing agreements.

CPP spokesman Chea Thyrith said discussions focused on national unity, border policy and internal coordination.

He noted that all member parties expressed backing for the Royal Government’s approach to settle disputes with Thailand through dialogue and legal frameworks.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored the importance of maintaining stability within the alliance, warning against fragmentation or attempts by parties to split and later rejoin under different names.

He said cohesion among the 29‑party bloc was essential to ensure political stability and reinforce confidence in the alliance’s role.

Thyrith added the meeting was also intended to strengthen coordination ahead of future political and policy discussions.

The session comes amid heightened diplomatic sensitivity over Cambodia’s border with Thailand, which Phnom Penh has repeatedly said it aims to resolve peacefully.
