Cambodia Promotes Green and Resilient Tourism Development to International Investors
PHNOM PENH, May 21, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is stepping up efforts to attract sustainable tourism investment, promoting green tourism, resilient infrastructure, and year-round travel opportunities to international investors and development partners, officials said Wednesday.
Tourism Minister Hout Hak outlined Cambodia’s tourism potential during the Asian Development Bank (ADB) High-Level Roundtable on “ASEAN Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Investment Outlook 2030,” held at ADB headquarters in Phnom Penh.

The event gathered government officials, business leaders, chambers of commerce, tourism associations, investors, and development experts to discuss strategies for sustainable tourism growth across Cambodia and the wider ASEAN region. ADB Cambodia Country Director Yasmin Siddiqi also joined the discussions.
Hak emphasized Cambodia’s rich tourism assets in culture, history, nature, and eco-tourism, noting they align with evolving global travel trends. He said the government is improving integrated infrastructure and transport connectivity to reduce travel time, enhance convenience, and strengthen the country’s appeal to investors and tourists alike.
He highlighted the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign (May–October), which encourages travel during the rainy season and showcases Cambodia’s natural landscapes year-round. Built around six themes — “Must See, Must Stay, Must Taste, Must Visit, Must Try, and Must Buy” — the campaign aims to broaden visitor experiences beyond traditional peak periods.
Hak stressed that tourism investment is vital not only for economic growth but also for job creation, improved livelihoods, and sustainable community development.
The roundtable forms part of ASEAN’s Tourism Development Vision 2030, which seeks to build a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism sector across Southeast Asia.
