KUALA LUMPUR, May 21, 2026 (KPT)– Cambodia and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors during talks in Kuala Lumpur, officials said Wednesday.

The meeting, held May 20 on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation, brought together KUNG Phoak, Cambodia’s Secretary of State and ASEAN SOM Leader, and Hua Chunying, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, while also exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The talks followed agreements last month to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership and expand the newly established “2+2 Strategic Dialogue,” which brings together the foreign and defence ministers of both countries.

Both sides pledged to boost cooperation in digital development, green growth, supply chains, and financial services, while continuing to advance existing initiatives under the Diamond Cooperation framework.

Officials said the enhanced partnership would support Cambodia’s national development and contribute to regional stability.

The two countries also discussed expanding collaboration in trade, infrastructure, defence, agriculture, and clean energy, while reaffirming Cambodia’s role in promoting regional stability and supporting broader strategic cooperation with China.
