TBONG KHMUM, May 27, 2026 (KPT) — China has pledged to deepen economic cooperation with Cambodia and encourage more investment, as the two countries marked the inauguration of a new $30 million rubber processing plant in Tbong Khmum province.

Speaking at the launch of the KIMS Rubber factory alongside Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin said Beijing remained firmly committed to Cambodia’s long‑term development. He vowed to promote closer strategic alignment and encourage modern Chinese enterprises to invest in the Kingdom.

“China will continue to firmly support Cambodia’s economic and social development as it has always done in the past,” Wang said, describing the partnership as one between “ironclad friends who share both good times and hardships.”

The ambassador urged Chinese companies operating in Cambodia to comply with local laws, strengthen long‑term business operations and contribute to social responsibility initiatives that support local communities. He said the new factory was another example of the growing Cambodia‑China partnership under the framework of a “community with a shared future.”

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked Beijing for its continued support through loans, grants, technical assistance and large‑scale investment projects. He said the KIMS Rubber investment reflected growing confidence among Chinese businesses in Cambodia’s favorable investment climate.

The plant, built on a 15‑hectare site, has capacity to process 100,000 tons of rubber annually. Officials said it is expected to create about 300 direct jobs and more than 50,000 indirect jobs, strengthening Cambodia’s role in the global rubber value chain.
