SEOUL, June 15, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and South Korea reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral trade and investment ties following high-level talks between Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol and Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo during an investment promotion mission in Seoul, officials said Monday.

The meeting, held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), focused on expanding economic cooperation, attracting greater foreign direct investment (FDI), and maximizing the benefits of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA).

Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), highlighted Cambodia’s robust economic growth, political stability, and investor-friendly environment, underscored by flexible investment laws and government support for businesses.

He also pointed to ongoing efforts to combat online scams and strengthen regional cybersecurity, measures aimed at ensuring a safe and reliable climate for international investors.

The Deputy Prime Minister further outlined Cambodia’s investor aftercare mechanisms, including the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), the Cambodia-Korea Public-Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD), and regular business engagement platforms designed to address investor concerns and improve the ease of doing business.

Minister Yeo praised Cambodia’s success in attracting foreign investment and its rapid socio-economic development, describing the country as an increasingly competitive destination in the region.

He reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to strengthening long-standing trade relations and pledged continued support for Korean companies exploring opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in high value-added industries.

Both sides discussed ways to leverage the CKFTA more effectively to boost bilateral trade and investment flows, with the shared objective of translating growing business interest into concrete projects.

The talks concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses and investors in Cambodia and South Korea.
