DPM Sun Chanthol courts Samsung investment to boost high‑tech manufacturing
SUWON, June 15, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol stepped up efforts to attract high‑tech investment on Monday, meeting senior executives at Samsung Electronics’ global headquarters in Suwon, South Korea.
Leading a Cambodian delegation on the first day of an investment promotion roadshow, Chanthol met Park Seung‑Hee, Samsung’s President of Corporate Relations, to showcase Cambodia’s potential as a destination for advanced manufacturing and technology industries.

Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s strategic location in Southeast Asia, favorable investment climate and competitive advantages, stressing that these strengths align with Samsung’s long‑term expansion strategy. He underscored the government’s commitment to pro‑business policies, streamlined procedures and close public‑private cooperation to foster high‑value industries.
Park acknowledged Cambodia’s growth potential and said Samsung has been studying investment opportunities, but noted any expansion would require internal evaluation and review before approval. Chanthol reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to provide comprehensive support and strategic information to facilitate the process.
Officials said the visit forms part of Cambodia’s broader push to attract technology‑driven industries and move up the manufacturing value chain as the country seeks to diversify its economy.
Accompanying Chanthol were Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea Khoun Phonrattanak, senior officials from the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Ministry of Commerce, as well as private sector representatives.
Samsung’s Suwon headquarters, known as “Samsung Digital City,” is one of the company’s principal innovation centers, employing about 35,000 people.
