Cambodia’s Deputy PM Courts South Korean Smart Furniture Maker for Investment
INCHEON, June 16, 2026 (KPT) – Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol has invited South Korean furniture manufacturer Emons Furniture to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, as the Kingdom intensifies efforts to attract technology-driven and high-value manufacturing industries.
The invitation was extended during a visit to Emons’ headquarters and showroom in Incheon, where Chanthol – First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) – led a high-level delegation in talks with Chairman Kyung-soo Kim and senior executives.

Chanthol praised Emons’ achievements in South Korea’s furniture sector and highlighted Cambodia’s competitive advantages for foreign investors, including a young workforce, political stability, macroeconomic resilience, strategic location, expanding transport infrastructure and preferential access to global markets through multiple free trade agreements.
He encouraged the company to consider Cambodia as a production base, noting the government’s push to attract modern, technology-based industries.
Following the meeting, the Cambodian delegation toured Emons’ showroom, where the company showcased its latest smart furniture innovations – including adjustable beds with sleep-monitoring systems and intelligent wardrobes equipped with temperature-control and antibacterial features.
Officials said the engagement reflects Cambodia’s proactive economic diplomacy strategy to attract advanced manufacturing projects and strengthen industrial development. It also demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting international investors interested in establishing operations in the Kingdom.
Founded in 1979, Emons Furniture is one of South Korea’s leading manufacturers and distributors, recognized for integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into furniture products and pioneering smart home furnishings.
The visit concluded with both sides exchanging views on potential cooperation, as Cambodia positions itself as an emerging destination for high-value manufacturing investment in Southeast Asia.
